How To Install Windows 7 On Freedos Laptop Backpack
Hello, i just bought a MSI GL62M 7RD laptop, and after installing windows, i'm having a lot of issues. I will start: If i update the sound drivers from msi site (selecting my laptop in the list, etc), the mic stops working correctly (If i try to record something, it barely records anything and stops working now and then). If i uninstall every realtek audio drivers and reboot, it works again, but this mean i cannot use Nahimic or anything new).
Second, and the most noticeable and annoying: If i plug my USB mouse, everytime i move it i can hear a buzzing sound which is really annoying. I discovered tho, if i change my battery plan to Economizer, it disappears, but with high permormance or balanced it re-appears.
I read its related to usbs but i don't get why it disappears changing plans. If i switch MSI shift to 'Eco', i get the same results. I discovered that if i switch to economizer, but set cpu minimum state from 5% to 100%, the noise appears. For balanced or high performance, it doesn't matter, the noise stays. Of course if something cpu intensive is happening, the noise moving the mouse returns. Last but not least, if i don't install dragon center, fan noise is kinda low.
Still a bit too loud for a laptop, but acceptable. But as soon as i install Dragon Center (last version), noise gets a lot louder, and yeah, i even tried to lower fan speed to minimal, and it then gets quiet, but just for a while.

After leaving the laptop in desktop for a while doing nothing, it starts to get louder or getting highs and downs randomly. Its pretty annoying. Also, the display is pretty bad, specially for games. It's blurry and weird.
This is not an issue tbh, just pointing it. I'm really concerned about this, and i've seen that the MSI GL72 7RD has a 17.3 inches display, and in the store i bought it, it says its LED with high quality, i was wondering if this was true, since if this laptop's display is better, i might ask for a refund and buy this one instead. (This one: ) I updated every driver. I even started for scratch formatting everything and re-installing windows. I even tried updating firmware and BIOS, and it's the same. I'm using Windows 10 Professional x64. My build includes a 256GB SSD, GTX 1050 and i7 i7-7700HQ.

I just got it yesterday and i am already thinking if i should return this laptop since i'm really disappointed. It's such a pain to have this issues for a 1.000€ laptop, so i'm really hoping someone can help me here with all of these. Thanks for reading. Hi librada.eloy, This is a volunteer user-to-user forum. MSI does not participate here. Based on your post, it sounds like you need professional help. You should not have needed to install Windows---it should already have been installed. And, if you were having trouble, the time to ask for help is BEFORE you do something draconian like reinstall Windows.
Windows 10 is particularly nasty to install on an MSI gaming notebook. It is not a task for a novice and even experienced computer geeks are amazed at the many 'gotchas' lurking for users who undertake the task.
To make matters worse, the MSI factory sometimes has trouble and new MSI gaming notebooks 'break' when the first big Win 10 update is pushed to them from Microsoft. The best place to obtain competent help is usually from your local MSI distributor. Some are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful.
Some are not. Hopefully yours is. However, dealing directly with MSI Support is a mixed bag and they do not have a good reputation with anyone I know. If local help is not available, then you should probably return your GL62M 7RD for a refund while you can. MSI gaming notebooks are specialty computers and they have many quirks that other general-purpose notebooks do not have. You may be better served with a more 'normal' notebook.

Why would i re-install windows in the first place? It came with FREEDos. And if it is has so many problems with this, why don't they warn you in the first place? I'm not a novice, neither i am a master geek, but i had a lot of laptops in my hands, and by far this has been the most nonsensical and trouble filled experience i ever had. While i thank you for trying to help here, i must say what you answered here doesn't help at all and this could only help someone totally clueless with 0 experiencie in computers whatsoever that had zero idea about MSI giving support, whhich is actually pretty common sense. Don't take me wrong here. I really thank for trying, but by no matter i find this a good way to do it, i'm trying to give positive feedback, not trying to attack yoy here (really).
If i had a local store or MSI dealer i would go, but it's not the case. Also, most companies support is terrible, specially when buying online. But what i was looking here was insight from other buyers having similar experiences with this kind of laptop. Since you can buy the laptop without windows i can't believe noone had issues similar to mine. Sometimes there is a workaround for this kind of issues and that's what i was seeking.
In fact, i finally fixed audio, and the solution is hilariously stupid and sad. Any update of the audio driver breaks the mic. I had to deny system permision to the realtek folder and disable auto driver updates and leave stock windows sound drivers for the mic to work, which is as dumb as it takes.
No matter what driver i install besides this one, and the mic is broken. The problem here was windows 10 auto update was also auto downloading some recent drivers after rolling back to stock breaking it consistently and the only workaround i found was doing that. For the others, well, i managed to fix the fans issue somehow.
Mouse thing wont change for what i see, so i will have to live with this. But it is by far the most annoying and disgusting of these issues. All of this is pretty annoying when you spend such money on a laptop, specially when such simple and silly details can ruin the experience. Again, due the nature of these issues, i don't think a pre-installed Windows would have made this all much better at all. So before saying i made something draconian, you should ask BEFORE if that was the case, because in my case, it's what to be expected when someone buys this kind of laptop. I know there are some authorized MSI built-to-order distributors that will change the OS for customers but this is so customers can order an MSI notebook with a different OS---usually a version of Windows that MSI doesn't offer from the factory (like Win 7). In my experience (and the experience of many customers) MSI does not provide good support. Many of us knew this before we purchased a gaming notebook from them. The expense of the notebook has no bearing on this---the price is due to the expensive components inside. The two NVidia GeForce GTX 980M MXM modules in my GT80 2QE SLI Titan notebook by themselves, cost way more than most notebooks!

So I'm shocked that they would allow any of their notebooks to be sold without Windows since they do not provide adequate instruction for users. Well i actually managed to fix all the issues by myself, and the problem here it is not about 'skill' or 'knowledge', this fixes are related to actual trouble with msi components and/or usage of drivers or functions. That's what really disappointed me. I have a msi motherboard and a gtx 1080 on my desktop and had zero trouble and was super happy with MSI overall, but next time, i will think two times before getting any other laptop from them. If anyone reads this in the future and can't manage to fix those issues or experiences the same, i am willing to help others since it is by no means a great experience to deal with. Well actually as i stated, i just left the stock Win 10 driver without nahimic, because it gives the best results for audio and the only way for the mic to work properly.
Also, i didn't say it before, but the buzzing sound when moving mouse was fixed turning off the 'C-states' option in the bios. After that, and uninstalling completely dragon center last version, fans work like a charm and no kind of sound is heard when moving mouse, even after overclocking. Also, as i said, display quality is just that, poor quality. But this is a fair tradeoff taking into account the laptop specs and price, at least after everything is now fixed and running as intended, but just wanted to note it in the remote case someone comes here looking for help and ends finding this post.
